World Wonder Angkor Wat, Ta Propm, Angkor Thom, Bayon at Cambodia

Visited Cambodia World Heritage (World Wonder) "Angkor Wat" in 2013. Angkor was about the size of more than 340 football fields.

Now (2016) trying to recapture where were those "Wat" where i took those photos.

Angkor (Capital city) Wat (temple), City of temples, in Cambodia is the largest religious monument in the world. It is located about six km north of Siem Reap, south of Angkor Thom. Entry and exit to Angkor Wat can only be access from its west gate.

Angkor Wat was built in the first half of the 12th century. Estimated construction time of the temple is 30 years by King Suryavarman II. It is famous for having more than 3000 beguiling apsaras (Indian religions, apsaras are beautiful, supernatural female beings) carved into its walls. And it is surrounded by a 190m-wide moat, which forms a giant rectangle measuring 1.5km by 1.3km. From the west, a sandstone causeway crosses the moat.

A warm day at entrance of Angkor Wat

Actually, we did not start off at Angkor Wat.....

We hired an experience local chap (let's address him as Mr. Wat) with his "Tuk tuk". He ride us around Angkor. I couldn't remember the price he asked, but we definitely satisfied with his effort and service. We ride along a peaceful lake (photo above), and suggested to power-up (lunch) before the start of our lengthy trail.

Meditate (peaceful) or the tired long ride?

This was where we start off... should be "Ta Propm"

No wonder I heard of "tree-in-temple", "jungle atmosphere", unrestored temple with massive silk cotton trees or fig sticking on them. Which is the most beautiful nature constructed combination?

Ta Prohm was one of Jayavarman VII's first major temple projects. It was dedicated to his mother. (Preah Khan was dedicated to Jayavarman VII’s father.) Did i went to Preah Khan? Beat me!

Ta Prohm was originally constructed as a Buddhist monastery and was enormously wealthy in its time, boasting of control over 3000 villages, thousands of support staff and vast stores of jewels and gold.

Ta Prohm breaking walls backed by those muscular embrace roots.
Definitely an attraction should not be missed. I stared and dazed by the spectacular formation.
No wonder it one of the World Wonder!

At least soak 2 hours in the day at Ta Prohm to capture your best shots on those
maze-like corridors and iconic trees. Every angle forge long lasting remembrance.
Feel awesome i been here even after 3 years.

Like Lego blocks stack on each others

Kid sharing her skill swinging and sleeping on those muscular "arm"

Climbing in and out of maze-like corridors. Are we lost?

Help! Help! The tree is falling!

When the tree and the wall fall in love, they hug tightly too!

Did you see a human face? Or my eyes too tired?

The brain of the jungle!

Trees train for years, with determination, to get their muscular arms and wonderful structure.
Don't give up doing what we love! Enjoy the journey to our destination.

Mine or yours? Left or right?

One of the four faces Gate at Angkor Thom. There are total of 5 (NSEW & Victory Gate)

Mr Wat will always ride us to each temple and brief us where we be getting him for the next as we not be returning to where we entered.

Angkor Thom is a 3km2 walled and moated royal city and was the last capital of the Angkorian empire. After Jayavarman VII recaptured the Angkorian capital from the Cham invaders in 1181, he began a massive building campaign across the empire, constructing Angkor Thom as his new capital city. He began with existing structures such as Baphuon and Phimeanakas and built a grand enclosed city around them, adding the outer wall/moat. He then constructed some of Angkor's greatest temples including his state-temple, Bayon, set at the center of the city. There are five entrances (gates) to the city, one for each cardinal point, and the victory gate leading to the Royal Palace area. Each gate is crowned with 4 giant faces. The South Gate is often the first stop on a tour.

Is this the "Terrace of the Elephants"? I can't remember!

What this guy (top) trying to do.
Maybe this will be future layout to carved into its walls.
Or this (below) better. Prefer Sexy or Victory?

Time for a break. How many football fields have we conquer? 50?

Everyone trying to pose for their best shot
Below, are ours! Even the sky drop, we can handle!

1, 2, 3.....Smile!
Bayon is a well-known and richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia. It stands at the centre of Jayavarman's capital, Angkor Thom. The most distinctive feature is the smiling stone faces on the those towers.

Can you feel the steepness? Many have give up?

Just now i was there..... Finally up!
