Singapore Marina Barrage freshwater reservoir in the city

Marina Barrage is a dam built across the 350-metre wide Marina Channel to keep out seawater and was officially opened on 31 Oct 2008. It is Singapore’s 15th reservoir, and the first in the heart of the city.

Marina Barrage brings about three benefits:
1. New source of water supply,
2. Flood control
3. Lifestyle attraction.

Marina Barrage is at the top that connected across the river.

Unaffected by tides, water level in Marina Reservoir is kept constant all year round which is ideal for all kinds of recreational activities such as boating, kayaking and dragonboating.

When it's windy, you can catch all sort of kites flying above. 

You can walk/cycle up the roundabout (below photo) to this huge rooftop garden (above photo) to see the panoramic view. This is the spot where parents will bring kids fly their kites.
