Best hotels to stay in Sarawak Miri City

ANO Hotel
Nearer to Mall and many eateries. I was supposed to stay Kingwood, but this
Hotel was cheaper. The only inconvenient was it do not have cold fridge.

Looking out from my room window. Beside the yellow stall was "Sau Pau Cafe".

Kingwood Boutique Hotel

From the outside, you can see the design and effort puts in. I saw on hotel booking website, their rooms were very nice. It's just beside Ano Hotel with strategic location with many eateries - Check HERE. I did not stay at this hotel.

Hotel lobby. I came in to check it out during Christmas.

Jinhold Hotel and Serviced Apartment
With Swimming pool and gym. Room big. Value for $. This hotel just a stone throw away from Airport.
It was so convenient, especially when our departure was from here. Even though it was nearby, hotel provided shuttle service. Nearby was a Supermart and few food courts.
*I will choose this hotel if I returned back to MIRI.

Room was huge and cosy. Bathroom was spacious. This was the last room and without twin beds.

Imperial Hotel
If you love shopping mall hotel, then this for you. It located opposite Kindwood and ANO, separated by this road.

You could see the busy Wireless Walk that came to life at night with many container stalls selling delicious local food.

COMFORDEL  Hotel
This hotel was among my choice when I was there for its location and price. The hotel was new so cleanliness should be alright.

Ajang Hotel
Super Value for $. If you okay to walk abit, this will be a better choice compared to ANO Hotel.
Check it out HERE

Malaysia Sarawak Miri Self-drive Car Rental Tour

December 2022 trip to Miri City because Scoot (Singapore SIA budget airline) started flying over. As I read about this City, I get to know more about what's Borneo.

Borneo is the 3rd largest island in the world. Yes, in the world. This island is divided among 3 countries (Indonesia 73% / Malaysia 26% / Brunei 1%).

How come I didn't know when I went Kuching! Am I so forgetful? Check out my Kuching trip HERE. We have not planned any itinerary. As usual, observe and explore.

Miri small airport fly over by Scoot and back by AirAsia. Cheaper flight available.

After came out, on the left, you will see Taxi Kiosk and Car rental.
We rented from Trackway. Process was easy. Produced your international driving license and fill up the form. Choose your preferred car. Deposit Return car at airport with same amount of petrol.

Auto-Drive and cheapest at RM140 per day. Deposit RM200.
At the Petrol Station, pay for your petrol at the cashier, then start to pump. It will auto stop.
You can take a phone video of the (around) car if worry dispute.

What's available at airport.

Outside airport.
Jinhold hotel and serviced apartment was just opposite.

Gua Niah Caves National Park at Sarawak Miri

When you at Miri, this is the National Park you must visit. Even you don't like Caves, treat it as an exercise and enjoy the nature. My advised was to bring torch light, wear gloves (at least one side), and go light (little). Just bring along small water bottle. You can choose to wear a cap if worry "drops".

You can bring snacks and leave it in your car. With my experience, I can guarantee you will not eat in the Cave, when you are sweaty and "dirty".

After breakfast, we shifted from Ano Hotel to Jinhold Hotel & Serviced Apartment. From there, we set off to Gua Niah (self-drive) which took about 1 hour 30 mins.

You will be driving in from this entrance which read "Niah National Park"

I read online some drive to the wrong spot and took them 30mins to return here. They were saying not National Park. **For ease of your commute, as long you search GPS, and the Niah Cave spot (below map) was beside the river. We would need to cross it by boat.

You will need to purchase entrance ticket.

There was a Cafeteria on the way to your river-crossing.

Some chose to lodge here with their chalet.

Less than a minute to cross this river. Pay at least RM1 for your boat ride.

Careful of slippery path especially after rain.
The way to Cave took quite awhile.

There will be stalls selling snack/drink. (May not always be there)

Finally, we were here.

Slow and steady

This was the Great Cave with a huge entrance.
We need to hold on railing coated with bat/bird shit, so it's wiser to wear glove (at least one side).
The other hand you can take photo.

*Some area very slippery.

Did you see him waving? (Hint: center of map)

We needed to climb up those stairs. Enjoy the "fresh air" 😛

Now did you see me? (Hint: should be easy to spot 😁)
